Who we are
Outer Circle, formerly known as The Tattooed Gent was founded in 2015 with one clear goal: to create a studio where everyone feels welcome.
Like many people, we’d experienced environments that felt intimidating, judgmental, or difficult to navigate, places where you were expected to already know all the terminology and understand the process. We wanted to build something different: a calm, professional space where people could explore body modifications and art feeling informed, respected, and safe to be themselves.
Over the years, that approach has helped shape the studio into what it is today. The rebrand to Outer Circle marks a new chapter and a return to putting those values at the center of everything we do. We’re proud to have built a studio where nervous first-time clients become regulars, where people feel comfortable to be themselves, where artists can share their passion for their work and clients return time and again because they trust the process and the people behind it.
Led by Amy, who has been part of the studio since day one, Outer Circle continues to focus on what matters most: calm guidance, honest advice, and creating an experience that feels just as important as the work itself.

We believe everyone should feel comfortable asking questions, learning about their options, and making decisions that feel right for them. That's why we focus on sharing knowledge openly, offering honest advice, and creating an environment where people feel informed, respected, and free to be themselves.
We're passionate about helping people connect with the right artist, service, or opportunity for their individual needs, while building a welcoming community around shared interests and creativity.
As Outer Circle continues to grow, we're excited to explore new ways for people to engage with the studio through art, workshops, events, and future projects, while staying true to the values that have guided us from the beginning.

Getting here
Based on Erdington High Street in Birmingham, we are near Spaghetti junction and main transport links from Birmingham City Centre, Lichfield and Sutton Coldfield. You can find us at 44 High Street, B23 6RH, next to KFC and near The Cross Keys pub.
Erdington train station is around a 5 minute walk away on the Cross City Line, with trains taking around 12 minutes from Birmingham New Street. Several main bus routes stop directly across the road from the studio, including the X3, X4, X5, 28, 66 and 98.
We have limited free on road parking outside the studio, alongside a paid RingGo car park around the back of the building, you can use the postcode B24 9HS to find the entrance. There is also parking available nearby at B&M.

Accessibility
We have a small step into the studio, and a portable ramp is available for step-free access into the shop. Once inside, the studio floor is level throughout. If you require any assistance, please let us know, we are always happy to help however we can.
Tattoo appointments take place in our main studio space. This is an open-plan room, however privacy screens are available. We primarily work by appointment only, meaning foot traffic through the studio is usually minimal.
Body piercing appointments take place in a private room at the back of the studio. Please note that this room is accessed via a narrow corridor and is currently not wheelchair accessible. If this may affect your visit, please contact us in advance and we will do our best to accommodate your needs.
We have a gender-neutral toilet available on site. Please note that the toilet is not wheelchair accessible.
We have a selection of stim and fidget toys available for use during appointments and you are very welcome to bring your own comfort items.
Clients are welcome to request music changes at any point during their appointment, and we want everyone to have a relaxed experience and are happy to adjust the studio environment where possible to help you feel comfortable.
We recommend bringing snacks and drinks to longer appointments if needed, and we have a fridge available to keep items cool. Tea and coffee are always available, including dairy and dairy-free milk options just let us know what you'd like, the kettle is always on.
